Ok, so YES, I DID actually fall off the face of the planet. In the interim, servers were switched as well as DNS... basically Best Communications was finally, sadly swallowed up by Verio. I had been with Best since '96 and had the same static IP for all those years. Very sad... and era has ended. So, anyway, to respect Geno's wishes (he has one of the funniest blogs I've seen btw), I WILL try this again.
