Just a little "Oriental Delight"...

The story behind the name:

I was in Las Vegas for work one weekend and looking through the room service menu at the Venetian. The menu was impressive and broken down into categories like Appetizers, Breakfast, Entrees, Sandwiches, etc. Then I notice that there is one section called "Oriental Delights" which included things like Chow Mein and Chop Suey. Well I became completely irritated and turned to my friend and said, "Oriental Delights?!? What the hell is THAT?! I don't even know what that means! Chicken Chow Mein is classified as an Oriental Delight?? THAT isn't an oriental delight!"...and in my ire I inadvertently yelled, "HELL! I'M an Oriental Delight, not Chicken Chow Mein!" It just stuck after that...

Boy I hate these obligatory "bio" pages. Anyway, this picture was taken by my good friend and upstairs neighbor, Geno, who is most famous for his exciting blog e2.0. It was taken with a webcam and let me tell you, it's harder than you think to get a centered, in-focus picture from one of those things. He was holding the webcam in his hand and we were trying to watch the computer monitor at the same time to snap a picture. The image was upside down and reversed...kinda like trying to draw a picture using only a mirror. So we ended up with dozons of one-ear shots, many up-the-nose shots, and several down-the-shirt shots before we got this one. And, BTW, that is GENO'S jacket!!

So what can I say... I'm a 34 year old, single, Japanese-American web geek. I've been a web developer here in SF for the last 6+ years. Started off when domain names were free, the table tag had not even been introduced yet and people thought the BLINK tag was pretty cool. Ok I'm not too sure that the BLINK tag was EVER cool but you know what i mean. Strange to think that the web has been my sole career for that long. That's like a BILLION "web years"!! Anyway, I was born and raised in New Joisy and high-tailed it out of there as soon as I was able. I went to school in Vermont, live a year in Madrid, spent a few years in Boulder, CO and finally ended up here in SF. OK I don't know what else to say... Some of my loves: I'm a big gamer and have WAY too many console games (playstation, dreamcast, nintendo 64, PS2), D2, anime (especial Vampire Hunter D), kung-fu movies, dining out, pool (9-ball), parrots, coding, 80's music, shoes, baroque music, and my computer. Pet Peeves: DHTML, bad code, Brotherhood of the Wolf, that a tomato is not really a vegetable, and parrots that say "wanna nut" incessantly about a thousand times a day.

Things you might find in my apartment: a Handy Bundler, one dead plant, one semi-live plant, one pot of dirt (I think there used to ba plant in there), a "JESUS LOVES YOU" licence plate (don't ask, it was a present), 2 live parrots, one toy parrot, a Sun SPARCstation (unused), milk from 1912 in my fridge, puple hair dye, a herd of SyQuest EZ Drives (unused cause they are ancient), a HUGE atomic clock, a pink Hello Kitty purse (ICK! - again, a present), a glitter Power Rangers jigsaw puzzle (another present), a corset, various bits of computer parts and innards, and computer cables running all over the place.

Things you might find in my head: "I wonder if I could put a hat on my parrot...", "Boy is FoodTV hypnotic", "Why won't this javascript work??", "I don't remember putting this pair of socks in the kitchen utensil drawer...", "Are there ANY cool, single straight men in SF?", "I wish I had a penguin."
